Sliabh Aughty Furnace Festival

On Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st of September 2014, we organised a weekend of fun and learning in Mountshannon, Co. Clare. On Saturday, there were 17th century games, blacksmiths and charcoal makers at work, a maze and a weapons demonstration and sword fight by Claiomh re-enactment group. At the same time, academic and local researchers were talking about various aspects of the project. On Sunday, there was a guided tour of the furnaces themselves.
